Dade City Family Photographer

Timeless family portraits with old Florida charm, from the brick streets around the 1909 courthouse to the shady banks of the Withlacoochee.

Dade City family photographer

I'm Mallary, the family photographer Tampa families choose, and Dade City is one of the most charming places I travel to. The Pasco County seat has a courthouse square, streets of historic homes and churches, and rolling countryside that looks nothing like the rest of Tampa Bay. For families who want photos with real character, it is hard to beat.

Dade City is farther out than my standard outdoor area, so please ask about travel to Dade City when you reach out. If you would rather come to me, the New Tampa studio is roughly 40 to 50 minutes south, an easy trip on I-75 or US 301.

Small-Town Streets and Rolling Hills

Most families picture beaches or modern parks when they think of Tampa Bay photos. Dade City gives you something different: a 1909 neoclassical courthouse, homes from the 1880s and 1920s, live oaks along quiet streets and the hills of east Pasco. Those details make family portraits feel rooted in a place and a time.

When we plan a Dade City session, I usually pair one historic setting with one natural one. A few portraits on the courthouse square, then a walk somewhere green, gives your gallery variety without rushing anyone.

Because Dade City is a longer drive for me, I like to plan the route ahead of time with you. We pick spots that are a short walk or drive apart, choose a meeting place with easy parking, and build in a few minutes for kids to settle in after the car ride. That little bit of planning means the session itself feels unhurried, which is exactly the mood a town like this deserves.

Family Photographer Dade City

As a family photographer in Dade City, my approach is guided but never stiff. I build the important group portraits first, then give the kids room to explore while I watch for candid moments: a little one tugging grandpa toward a storefront window, siblings racing down a sidewalk, a quiet hug when nobody is looking at the camera.

Dade City family photography often includes several generations, and my extended family sessions are made for that. If you prefer a calm, polished look, my studio portraits in New Tampa are always available. Every booked family gets a styling guide, and my post on the best places for family pictures in Tampa compares more locations around the region.

My studio is Black woman-owned and holds a 5.0 star Google rating from 143 reviews. I was named Best Family Photographer in Tampa 2026 by 10 Best Photographers and No. 1 Family Photographer in Tampa 2027 by Best Tampa Photographers.

Dade City Family Portrait Spots With Character

Dade City packs a lot into a small footprint. In a few blocks you can go from a National Register courthouse to a street of Victorian and Dutch colonial homes, and in a few minutes you can be at a riverside park. These are favorite spots for Dade City family portraits.

For families with young kids, I lean toward Price Park or the river park, where there is room to move. Older kids and teens usually enjoy the courthouse square and Church Avenue, because the architecture feels like a movie set. Grandparents appreciate the short walks downtown, where the courthouse square and Church Avenue sit close together.

Historic Pasco County Courthouse Square

The 1909 courthouse sits in the town square at Seventh Street and Meridian Avenue. Columns and symmetry make a classic, polished family portrait.

Church Avenue Historic District

Homes and four churches from the 1880s onward, in old Florida, Dutch colonial and Victorian styles. We photograph from public sidewalks and respect private property.

Pioneer Florida Museum and Village

21 wooded acres with historic buildings, including an 1878 church and an 1896 depot. Check admission and museum rules before planning a session here.

Price Park

A city park on land acquired from the Price-Huckaby family in 1967. Open space makes it a favorite spot for toddlers.

Withlacoochee River Park

Just east of town, with river access, trails and an observation tower. Riverside light and tall trees give a natural, Old Florida look.

Getting Here: Roads, ZIP Codes and Nearby Communities

Dade City's ZIP codes are 33523, 33525 and 33526. Families come from downtown, the Church Avenue Historic District, Dade City North, Lake Jovita and nearby communities like St. Leo, Trilby and Lacoochee.

US 301 runs right through town and continues south to Zephyrhills, and US 98 crosses it on the way through town. SR 52 links Dade City west to I-75 and San Antonio, while county roads 35A, 41 and 578 fill in the rural routes. If you choose a studio session, I-75 via SR 52 is usually the quickest path south.

Close by, I also travel as a Zephyrhills family photographer, offer family photos in Wesley Chapel and photograph families as a Spring Hill family photographer.

Courthouse Weddings, Kumquats and Pioneer History

Dade City is the county seat of Pasco County and was reincorporated as a city on June 5, 1889. The Historic Pasco County Courthouse was built in 1909, designed by architect Edward Columbus Hosford, and restored in 1998. It is on the National Register of Historic Places, and the county clerk has been known to perform Valentine's Day weddings on its steps.

Every January, the Kumquat Festival fills downtown on the last Saturday of the month, drawing as many as 40,000 people, so I keep that Saturday free of downtown sessions. The Pioneer Florida Museum and Village covers 21 acres, with buildings like the 1878 Enterprise Church and the 1896 Trilby Depot. Those old church and depot exteriors make a striking backdrop, though we check admission and photo rules first. The city counted 7,275 residents in the 2020 Census.

Planning Around Seasons, Light and Festival Weekends

Dade City's tree canopy helps in the warm months, but I still schedule outdoor sessions for the hour before sunset from May through September. Fall and winter are wonderful here, with crisp mornings and soft, low light. Holiday portraits run October through December, and the courthouse square makes a classic backdrop for holiday cards. Avoid Kumquat Festival Saturday downtown unless you want crowds in the background.

If rain rolls in, reschedule free or move into the studio. Collections are $400 for five edited images and one hour, $650 for ten images and 90 minutes, and $1,150 for twenty images and two hours, with extra edited images at $50 each and a 50% deposit to book. Your private online gallery arrives in 2 to 3 weeks. Ask about travel to Dade City or explore my story and approach.

Dade City family photography FAQs

The Historic Pasco County Courthouse square centers on the 1909 neoclassical courthouse designed by Edward Columbus Hosford, at Seventh Street and Meridian Avenue. Its columns and symmetry make tidy, classic group frames. It is a public square, so we keep walkways and entrances clear and work around anyone visiting.

The Church Avenue Historic District has homes and four churches dating from the 1880s onward, in old Florida, Dutch colonial and Victorian styles. Strolling the sidewalks gives a storybook feel for holiday portraits, which run October through December. We photograph from public sidewalks and respect private yards and porches.

It does. Built in 1909, restored in 1998 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Historic Pasco County Courthouse has the columns and clean symmetry that suit velvet, plaid and cream. Holiday portraits run October through December, and because it sits on a public square, we keep entrances clear and work around anyone passing through.

Yes. The Kumquat Festival, founded in 1998, fills downtown on the last Saturday in January and draws up to 40,000 people. That weekend, the courthouse square is no place for calm portraits. Choose another date, or head east to Withlacoochee River Park for quieter trails.

Withlacoochee River Park, just east of town at 12449 Withlacoochee Blvd, offers river frontage, trails and an observation tower. The wooded trails and river views suit an adventurous session for families with active kids who would rather explore than sit still.

Giraffe Ranch at 38650 Mickler Rd runs reservation-only tours, so any photography there depends on the ranch's own rules. For portraits, Price Park, a city park on land acquired from the Price-Huckaby family in 1967, is a simpler choice.

Yes. Dade City is the county seat of Pasco County and was reincorporated as a city on June 5, 1889. It counted 7,275 residents in the 2020 Census, with a 2023 estimate of 8,646, across ZIP codes 33523, 33525 and 33526. That small-town scale is part of its charm on camera.

Both work. The drive is approximately 40 to 50 minutes north via I-75 and SR 52, or up US 301 through Zephyrhills, depending on traffic and where in Dade City we meet. Please ask about travel to Dade City when you inquire. My Zephyrhills family photographer page has more spots along the way.

For a big group, the Historic Pasco County Courthouse square gives a symmetrical backdrop, while Price Park offers more open space for little cousins to move. I pose large groups in layers so every face shows. My extended family session is built for Dade City reunions and grandparents' milestone birthdays.

My family collections are the same everywhere, starting at $400 for 5 edited images in an hour. Dade City is farther than the 30-mile radius, roughly 40 to 50 minutes away (approximate), so ask about travel to Dade City. The full breakdown is on my investment page.

No. Summer storms can build fast over the Withlacoochee River area. If weather threatens, we reschedule for free or move your session into my New Tampa studio. Many Dade City families book mornings from June through September, when skies over Pasco County are usually calmer.
